E-commerce Platform Build

The brief
A local brand was paying monthly for a slow template site that took eight seconds to load on mobile and lost customers at checkout. They wanted something fast, cheap to run, and manageable by non-developers.
What I did
- Rebuilt the storefront as a static-first site deployed on the edge — pages render instantly from CDN.
- Integrated Stripe Checkout for payments: PCI burden stays with Stripe, not the client.
- Added a git-based CMS so the owner edits products and pages from a browser, with every change version-controlled.
- Migrated all product URLs with redirects, structured data and proper meta — rankings survived the switch.
- Set up analytics and a simple order-notification flow into the owner's inbox.
Outcome
- Mobile load time: 8s → under 1s; Lighthouse performance 99
- Hosting bill: effectively zero
- Checkout conversion up 22% in the first two months
- The owner updates the site without touching me — which was the point
